WalkMORE Study

Patients admitted to hospital typically experience periods of decreased activity or bed-rest. This reduced activity level leads to deconditioning – a loss of muscle mass and strength. Deconditioning has been linked with increased rates of falls, functional decline, and frailty.

WalkMORE was created to address these problems. This intentional walking program partners ambulatory patients with trained volunteer coaches to increase the amount of walking done by the patient, with the goal reducing deconditioning, functional decline, and falls.
